Hello!
My name is Liss.
I am a full time event stylist, and have dreamed of being one ever since I was 8 years old, after watching JLO in "the wedding planner". Growing up I loved nothing more than reading wedding magazine after wedding magazine, and would spend weeks planning my birthday parties. I run an event styling business called Vagary Creative - which specialises in creating unique and beautiful occasions.
In 2012 I met my man friend (otherwise known as my fiancé, Ben). The second I saw him come off a bus at Pyramid Rock music festival NYE of 2011/2012 - I knew he was it. I turned to my friend and told her I was going to "marry that man over there". Although it only took him 8 years to realise I was it. Whats that saying, good things come to those who wait?
Fast forward 8 years and a whole lotta Sunday roasts, and we now live on a 5acre property in the Yarra Valley, we call it Laycock Farm. When we bought the farm April of 2016, it was a vacant property with nothing but an old decrepit plum orchard in the centre. It took us two years of arguing with council to finally get our permit to start building our dream. Its an ongoing project, with dreams of a black barn, a old rammed earth farmhouse, an olive grove, veggie patches with roaming chickens, a rose/peonie garden and our free range kids. Its a big dream, and we have a LONG LONG way to go. but everyday we chip away at creating our forever farm.
Together we live here with Bens son, and my stepson, meet Heath.
Heath is 8 years old and pure magic. A big personality rolled into a small body. He loves footy, dancing, movies, clegys fried chicken, the word mate, dinosaurs, board games, his dads phone, and more recently fishing. He is kind, he is funny, he is smart, loud and wise beyond his years.
I met Heath when he was 2 months old, its a long story, one for another day. I've watched him grow and have been so lucky to have been apart of his life from the very beginning. His mum and step-dad are just as wonderful, and we are blessed to share him with people who love him just as much as we do. Heath has welcomed his new baby brother this year, Harvey, Lots of H's in our world!
I come from a family of four, growing up it was just me, my sister Sam and my mum and dad. I had the best childhood anyone could ever ask for. My sister married an Irishman a few years ago and had two babies, my nephew, Hugh and my niece, Annabelle. I call them my squishes and I love the shit out of them. They moved to Brisbane last year and I miss them dearly.
Ben comes from the same, he grew up on a flower farm in the Yarra Valley with his sister Eloise, and his mum and dad. Bens family is very close, unusually close, we see them almost everyday - lucky we love them. Both our parents have been married for over 30 years, and they still love each other like teenagers.
Our life is filled with love, and our farm is a place we hope to be spilling with friends and family for a lifetime. This blog is a place for me to share with the world everything I love most. Be prepared to see heap of Sunday roasts, entertaining, cooking, joy and happiness.
I cant wait to share my life with you all
L xx
